The end of my Obamacare Saga

As promised, I said I'd offer more details as to how my experience with Obamacare and the ACA went as it progressed.

The story is now over. I opted to keep my current, minimalistic, non-compliant with the new standards insurance for another 12 months (effective 12/1/13), as allowed under the law, and hopefully by the next time I need to use the Maryland Exchange website, it will be working better. I also expect to have better options available to be within the next 12 months, but the details of how that might come to be need not be shared with Subchat at this time.

The reason I wasn't able to create account two weeks ago was solved by removing my middle names from the data form. If the agent I spoke with on the phone suggested that as a solution (I doubt I'm the only one who needed to do that for whatever reason to create a match between my name and SSN), I could have gotten my account set up sooner, even though I didn't use it.

The website was still buggy the last times I tried using it. Emailing plan details never worked, nor did saving my progress where I left off, I always had to start from the beginning each time I logged in.

I hope that the ACA will bring the intended benefits to the population of the US over time, but it is hard to take anyone seriously if they try to convince me the overall initial rollout has been successful (I don't care about specific states that have successful, operational exchanges). They needed to get this right from day one, and they didn't. I don't care whose fault it is/was, I just want the service to be as good as it was promised to be. So far, it hasn't been.
