Posted by William A. Padron on Wed Jun 8 09:15:52 2011 Twenty-five years ago today on Sunday, June 8, 1986, the Electric Railroaders' Association operated a chartered fantrip train with four green-painted R-10 cars in use on various IND-BMT Division routes. The cars used in that consist were #3136-2966-3101-3013, and the starting and ending point of the fantrip was 59th Street-Columbus Circle, using the abandoned middle platform, and with the lunch stop at Coney Island. The routes covered were the lines of 6th Avenue-Manhattan, Houston Street, Rutgers Tubes, Smith Street, Culver, West End, 4th Avenue-Brooklyn, Montague Street, Nassau-Centre Streets, Broadway-Brooklyn, Myrtle Avenue, and Chrystie Street Cut (current "M" track connection). After the end of the trip around the 5:00pm hour (if I recall correctly), the train ran lite back to 207th Street Yard. -William A. Padron ["Smith-9th St."] |
