The green R-10s did get a sort of mini GOH. I recall seeing updated ME-42 brake valves removed from either scrapped R-16s or R-17 through 22s on the 10s (there IS a slight difference between the ME-42s on the 10s though 15s and later models). That was the most visible upgrade I saw and I'm sure there were others that I wasn't aware of. A friend of mine who is a TSS told me that the R-10s were the oldest equipment he operated as a M/M and that when he operated them it felt like he was operating a good substantial piece of equipment. Although I did like the R-10s, I feel it was unfortunate that the newer R-16s had to be scrapped ahead of the older R-10s. Although the 16s were a rather trouble plagued fleet, I think that a good GOH, even a mini one like the R-10s got, might have improved their performance and enabled them to last a little longer.
