About 3.5 years, until all the R68A's were on the road. I vividly recall seeing the last one at 34th/Penn on the Friday before Labor Day, 1989. I think when the C line was expanded to an all day operation, they could not handle it. In the early days of the "round" C, they even used R10's on weekends.
