Its turned into a crap shoot as to if he'll get locked up or not. I used to think that getting locked up would never happen. I'm not so sure now.Word in the legal community is that there are so many "reversable errors" in his trial that the conviction will be tossed out. |

I assume you meant that Mass' population is 40% that of NZ. (Mathematics comprehension does not appear to be your strong point :=) blame Trump and your arguments are weak It's necessary to look at the timeline. I would attribute deaths up to April 2021 to be the direct result of Trumps policies. Infections that were present in the population on Jan 20, 2021 would require 3 months to fully propagate among the population. Remember it took 3 months for New Zealand's thorough lockdown in Mar 2020 to eliminate Covid from that country. The number of Covid deaths in Mass stood at 14,665 on 18 Apr 2021. The number of Covid deaths in NZ stood at 31, on 17 Apr 2021. That's 473 times more deaths for Mass vs. NZ in raw numbers and nearly 1200 times on a per population basis. Next look at Mass timeline after April 2021. As you noted, there were 25,586 Covid deaths by 10 Apr 2024. It means that 57.3% of Mass' Covid deaths were a direct result of Trump policies for this deep blue state. What about red states? Florida experienced 95,206 Covid deaths by 10 Apr 2024. Its total on 18 Aug 2021 was 34,951. It's percentage of deaths directly related to Trump policies was 36.7%. The remaining 63.3% were the result of the very red state policies of its governor. Tennessee, in honor of an expat motorman from Illinois? 30,726 total deaths in Apr 2024 and 12,756 deaths by 18 Apr 2021. That's 41.5% directly related to Trump and 58.5% due to its freedom from restrictions attitude. |

Big Pharma made put like banditsLet's look at why Big Pharma was necessary. First, news of the Covid outbreak in China was known by public health officials by late December 2019. It was known there was human-to-human transmission and the transmission was through aerosols by early January 2020. Italy's experience in January 2020, showed it was both highly contagious with high death rates. It was also known there were no vaccines prevent nor therapeutics to treat this disease. The only technique left to the medical profession to fight the disease was quarantine. Had the world's countries agreed to immediate and drastic action to contain the virus, it would have died out by April 2020. They did not, and the disease was out of control by April 2020, with no letup in sight. Trump announced "warp speed" to develop a vaccine on 15 May 2020. Had he and other world leaders taken action in January/February 2020, Covid would have been only a recent memory. |

Some prime examples of "reversible errors": 1st & foremost is the statue of limitations. Its been over 8 years since the "crime" 2. Merchan told the jury in the Trump trial that they do not need complete unanimity to convict the former president. He highlighted specifically that if the jurors did not agree on what the crime was, but did agree a crime was committed, he would treat it as a unanimous verdict. How could the jury find someone guilty if they cant agree on what they are convicting him of? So they know he did something wrong but we cant agree on what it was is the yardstick used for a conviction? Thats supposed to be justice? I don't think so. All That is blatantly unconstitutional. A jury has to come back with a unanimous vote either way. Thats one of the basics of our criminal justice system. 3. The Judge should have recused himself since he's known to have contributed to the Biden/Democratic campaign. BTW that's from Newsweek, not Fox news |

The jury convicted him unanimously of falsifying business records to conceal a crime. Yes, the Court of Appeals might decide that the judge erred in telling the jury that they did not have to agree on what that crime was. But this is currently an undecided matter of law. |

The statute of limitations for the felony is five years, and that’s what he was charged with and convicted of. The SOL is also tolled by absence from the state.2. Because they were unanimous on the conviction. What they didn’t have to be unanimous on is which underlying crime (which he didn’t have to be convicted of) was the crime being concealed. 3. On the strength of the Judges' participation in the trial, its turned into a cash cow for donations which total over $90mil towards Biden's reelection.Bottom line here is if all that doesn't represent a conflict of interest inasmuch getting $$$ donations for presiding (with deep Dems connections) over a trial against a political opponent, I don't know what is. Um, Alito's wife opposes the rule of law as it applies to the presidential succession.People are not viewed as being responsible for their children and parents (or else JFK, Gerald Ford, and Bill Clinton would all have been disqualified from the Presidency), but they are supposed by many to be able to have some say about how their spouses act. So again, if Merchan's daughter disqualifies him, Alito is out of a job too. By the way, Merchan got pre-approval from the applicable ethics board for his decision not to disqualify himself. |
