Gas trucks with 12k gallon capacity are all over the roads. Theres no outcry to get rid of them. IIRC the get their gas from Meeker ave in Greenpoint or at the GATX outlet in Carteret NJ to serve the NY metro area and get right on the highways. |

I worked for a midwestern outfit from Blue Island Ill. It was a gas company called Martins Petroleum. My gas station was at Coney Island Ave & 18th Ave and were serviced by two 3000 gal trucks. The trucks were labeled "Premium Gasoline-Danger".As far as when they allowed the larger trucks, IIRC it started around the time the gas shortage started in the early to mid 70s |

You speak of now when it is normal for rolling bombs to drive up near homes. When it becames rare again the perceptions will change. The original ideas for zoning came about because of a gas station in a residential zone. Check out nuclear waste or reactor transport's. It will become that difficult. |

My feeling is, if you like electric cars, fine. If you like gasoline cars, also fine. Why should there be any argument? The only argument we should have is that the government shouldn't force us either way. I don't like gas cooking or heating but the government shouldn't force us to use electric. |

I know in my area in East Meadow there are an awful lot less gas stations than when I started driving in the 70's. There were intersections where there were four, one on each corner. Now the same intersections have none, just 7-11's, Duncan Doughnut's, pharmacies like CVS or Rite Aid, banks, or office bldgs. A couple I know just got rid of the gas part but kept the mechanics part. And in the stations that does exist you can't even put air in your tires without a slew of quarters. |

Gas heating is better than oil.The obvious reason is to decrease emissions of molecular waste. I use the term “molecular waste” by reference to “nuclear waste.” A nuclear power plant contains its harmful byproducts, whereas an organic power plant doesn’t and this is somehow considered acceptable. |

Mainly because it is a nonsense debate of fiction and a waste of time. The government didn't force me into using LED versus LCD Televisions. Or the brand of shoes that I wear either. It's also a nonsense debate because frankly, more than half of the people out there aren't smart enough to be in a car to begin with, why do I want to give them something with so much power and utility of an electric car that they definately will be dangerous in. |

You don't think the government is getting too strong. Heck, we can't even take our temperature with a real thermometer with mercury any more. We can't even walk between cars on the subway. We are forced to wear seatbelts in cars or we hear a loud shrill sound. We have to wear helmets on bikes if we don't want to. We have to give up valuable parking spaces and lanes for the few bicycles. And don't get me started on congestion pricing and tolls. Why do I have to pay $7 just to get off Long Ireland onto the mainland? |

Heck, we can't even take our temperature with a real thermometer with mercury any more. And we are healthier for it. Too many people break the damn things. There are many reasons the US has better life expectancy than Somalia, and regulations designed to reduce health hazards are one of them. And my taxes pay some of the medical cost of others not wearing seat belts. So I'm not so upset that the seat belt noise is there. Public opinion keeps Congress from doing stuff that's too off the wall. |

The environment is a public good, being both non-rival and non-excludable, and is therefore within the proper ambit of government regulation.I don’t care about seat belt laws as I would always wear a seat belt. What pisses me off is the latest Tesla “recall” that screams whenever I look away from the road while on autopilot. What the fuck is the point then? But those things have nothing to do with each other. I can be for one form of government regulation, namely limiting harmful emissions into the atmosphere, but against others. Even so, it’s entirely a legitimate power of our government to charge for the use of roads even if I personally hate it. |

I have, because it’s so extremely rare that every instance is newsworthy. They want us to get rid of gas heat, but we should start with oil.
