I know in my area in East Meadow there are an awful lot less gas stations than when I started driving in the 70's. There were intersections where there were four, one on each corner. Now the same intersections have none, just 7-11's, Duncan Doughnut's, pharmacies like CVS or Rite Aid, banks, or office bldgs. A couple I know just got rid of the gas part but kept the mechanics part. And in the stations that does exist you can't even put air in your tires without a slew of quarters. |
