1) How is it offensive to make light of other people's holidays? I point out that Valentine's Day is an absurdity, Mother's Day and Fathers' Day were invented by the greeting card industry, Easter is a pagan fertility rite with a respray job, and both Christmas and Chanukah were minor holidays until some businesses decided they could make a lot of money turning them into giant celebrations of capitalism. Does that mean I hate Christians, parents, and singles?

2) What makes it "other people's" holidays anyway? Do Chimmy/WMATA/Gamera/etc have exclusive rights to them? I don't see any reason why I shouldn't celebrate if I want and how I want. If I want to celebrate Passover with cheeseburgers or Christmas with Chinese food and movies, that's my right and it's "offensive" for someone else to tell me I'm not allowed to because it's their holiday and I can't have it.
