Lots of early automobile companies didn't make it. Probably there was a milk company somewhere that overinvested in gasoline power milk delivery vans. |

Rental cars don’t last very long anyway, they already sell them after 1-2 years, so they would have gotten rid of these regardless. The difference is that they’re replacing them with ICE cars. And doesn’t this wholly contradict your claim that they’re expensive? If they were that expensive, they’d sell well used. |

"If they were that expensive, they’d sell well used."The ex Hertz EVs will have to have their prices slashed just to get rid of them. A little profit is better than nothing. Knowing that they are there because Hertz determined that they are too expensive to maintain will have potential buyers look the other way. I mean what used car buyer would be interested in a car thats there because its too expensive to maintain? Unless they make an offer they cant refuse. |

Teslas are still in high demand and I’m sure they’ll have no problem offloading them. I think the more likely reason is that they weren’t in high demand as rentals. Honestly, if I went on vacation I wouldn’t rent an EV due to the charging inconvenience, which is IMO the main barrier to EVs. |

I often drive from Pittsburgh to Long Island (appx 500mi) on a tank and a half. I pull in, top off the tank & I;m on my way in 10-15 minutes while looking at the line of EVs waiting their turn for a charge. Then there's the time it takes to charge. If I had an EV, to cover the 500 miles I'd have to charge at least twice and deal with the lines for the charger and time for the actual charging.Point being. My trip is long enough (time wise) as it is. EVs are not yet ready for my long distance trips |

But whatever you call it, it does seem to have some potential for automating some job functions.I can imagine AI providing better customer support for a company like Verizon than is currently being provided by their barely English-speaking Indian or Filipino call center staff. If nothing else, AI might utter fewer outright falsehoods about the terms of the service being provided. |

No, that is NOT how it works. What you need is a lot more L2 charging. This means more L2 chargers in parking garages and on-street L2 chargers. L3 charging is for road trips. The last time I needed an outside charge I ended up parking somewhere with L2 charging and it saved me the need to have to stop for L3 charging later. |

I see L2 is 3 to 19.2 kW.19.2 kW is maybe 60 miles of charging in an hour, or (more or less) a minute of highway driving for every minute of charging. There will need to be a LOT of those chargers on the streets. It all depends on how you use your car. When I owned a car, for 5 years I drove 30 miles each way to work and parked on the street overnight. I would have needed easy availability of L2 chargers either on the streets near where I live or at the parking lot at work. Other than that, most of my driving was long trips. With gasoline, I could get 150 miles of range in about 5 minutes at a gas station. I would really want stations on the road to be 350 kW or so (which at 3 mi/kwhr is about 175 mi of range in 10 minutes). |

"When I owned a car, for 5 years I drove 30 miles each way to work and parked on the street overnight. I would have needed easy availability of L2 chargers either on the streets near where I live or at the parking lot at work."This is solved on the West Coast and England and Europe. Pro-Tip, if you are on a public street, or parking lot, you'll likely want to stretch out your time. "Other than that, most of my driving was long trips. With gasoline, I could get 150 miles of range in about 5 minutes at a gas station. I would really want stations on the road to be 350 kW or so (which at 3 mi/kwhr is about 175 mi of range in 10 minutes)." I did a study on this, it takes longer than five minutes to fill a gas tank. The Chinese already have double the energy throughput than the 350kw you're throwing out there. And frankly, that's too quick, you cannot even take a leak in the amount of time your car is ready to move on. #2, have you ever woken up at a hotel, and your car is fully fueled up and ready to go? It's ****ing glorious. I've done trips where I charge (fill out) zero times. Or I've done a 600 miles for the cost of 23 bucks. |
