I remember in the news some time ago, about a small child who had fallen between the cars because the car door opened suddenly while rounding a curve. There is a danger when one is between the cars. One has nothing to do with the other. NOTHING. |

What if there was an undercover cop waiting? How will I know that???? Besides other than if there was a homeless person in the car or rowdy kids, why would you need to go from one car to another? That's been discussed extensively here. And I bet you could guess some too. |

The issue of walking between the cars has a number of related issues: safety, lawsuits - past and potential, revenue for the city, the odd's of beating a ticket, the actions of police officers, youth and freedom, relative safety, posted probibtion signs, whether the train is moving or not, should the doors be looked at all times, the MTA's reasoning for such a rule, previous rules and understandings, appropriate or not appropriate tickets, the behavior of riders, etc.In fact most of this discussion thread has been about all of those issues and more. It all sounds like a healthy discussion. Mike |

You don't get it (and neither does Spider-Pig, for that matter). The CRIMINAL justice system is based on innocent until proven guilty. The civil system doesn't have to be...and changing it will not run afoul of the Constitution. |

Show me in the Constitution then, where one is entitled to innocent until proven guilty in the CIVIL court system, or any NON-CRIMINAL proceeding. |

Innocent until proven guilty isn't in the Constitution at all. But the premise applies equally to criminal and civil cases. The level of proof is different but the principle is the same. |
