I run a blog about Roosevelt Island and transportation off and to the island is getting more congested due to increased residential construction. The tram can only carry so many pasengers per hour and as we all know by the time the F subway train comes into Roosevelt Island from Queens during the high point of rush hour it is packed. What I wanted to ask you all is whether you think it is physically possible to create access to the LIRR east side access track which was built obviously below the current RI subway station such that RI residents could use this as a possible transportation link to the island?

I doubt the MTA would ever allow this but in the long run for Roosevelt Island it woudl be cheaper than trying to build a new station down to the existing E,V or N,R tunnels that also travel below Roosevelt Island.

Thank you, Eric
