Everybody should get a user id and password, just like on every website, and should need to log in to the train, get authorized, and then be granted rights to do whatever level they need, including moving a train. They could even be to the zone level, such as a yard move does not authorize working on the line past the drop off point. And in this day and age they could be embedded in their phones, or with face ID. No single passwords, EVER. It goes against corporate IT standards 101. This is nothing new, except to a subway system that still uses 1930s technology. These trains are capable with enforcement with CBTC but probably would be hard to do with old signaling or old cars. But guess what? They are moving to CBTC and it should all be implemented with it.Consider this, you have to have an ID and PW just to post a message on this site, but you can just take a train for a joyride? |
