You don't need CBTC.WiFi internet connectivity is now available underground and obviously in the open air. You place a QR code sticker in every cab. The T/O scans the QR code with a smartphone which initiates a web-based app for the login. The QR code identifies the car number Authorized personnel are issued badges that have a different QR code. The log-in uses the T/O's QR code as the user name. The T/O must then enter his secret password to verify his identity. An additional precaution would be for 2-step login that calls back the T/O's smartphone and prompts for a special, and random key. Most of us have experienced similar login procedures. There would not necessarily be a lock on the car movement although it's not out of the question. The argument against a lock would be what happens in case of failure - or hacking. Imagine stopping the entire subway system in its tracks. However, the login alert can be sent to dispatchers, tower operators, etc to monitor unauthorized movements. |
