That is correct.
Before Tracy Towers went up and the covered up Jerome yards, they were wide open.
As a student at DWC, many of my classrooms faced these yards. From 1962-66 I enjoyed looking out over the yards to see the various changes in equipment, from Lo-Vs to SMEE types.
My first glance at a blazing red R29 was in that yard.
