Wow Spider---we actually agree on something for a change. You're right, the job was NOT finished during Reconstruction because Recon didn't go far enough to break up those damn plantations and give the Freedmen 40 acres and a mule as a start to an independent yeomanry. I still get irritated that my party has forgotten that they were the party of anti-slavery, emancipation and civil rights after the war that your Democrats started to break up the country. I wish to hell the Republicans would realize they are the party of Lincoln as I do but perhaps some day they will wake up and smell the freakin' coffee.
