The SIRT only has rapid transit cars on it because the MTA urgently needed to replace the ancient B&O cars running the on the SIRT and the R44s were seen as the quickest option at the time. I don't think there's any reason for them to change it up this late in the game though, as they can simply put R160-like cars on the line. That would further allow for the potential of expansion to the subway system. |
