Also, it's not just ridership that caused it to close (of course though that's a major reason). Also though, think of the 70's, and how "safe" it would be to wait by yourself, at a freely open station (as all LIRR stations are, unlike subway stations) that anyone can wonder into. I am sure not many women alone would have wanted to wait there, heck, many men alone wouldn't have wanted to wait there unless they didn't value their wallets or their lives. |
