I am not even talking about a "bad neighborhood". Standing on a desolate underground platform in the best of neighborhoods in the 70's or 80's wasn't a good idea. And even if the fear was unjustified, I Guarantee that's why many potential users wouldn't have used it back then.It was nerve wrecking standing alone at the former Fresh Pond LIRR station, not even an underground, although in a cut, and in a very safe neighborhood. A woman alone wouldn't have been caught there for anything, and like I said, you can't get much safer than that neighborhood, even in the 70's. |
