Would you care to elaborate? Most likely R-179 will have an updated version of R-142A/R-143 (former ADTranz) control group. From the article in the OP: The cars will be powered by highly reliable BOMBARDIER MITRAC propulsion equipment with new,energy-efficient inverters. The cars' onboard systems will be integrated by Bombardier's industry-leading MITRAC train control and management system with internet protocol technology. The propulsion and control equipment will be supplied by Bombardier's Propulsion and Controls business unit in Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania. Thanks for the post. Very informative. People don't realize that manufacturers have proprietary systems they put into cars, and such systems are often not compatible. The older equipment was mechanically simpler than today's fleet. |
