That is correct, either way the person is dead. The only time I can see a smaller situation is when it's an accident, like he runs the person over by accident. They of course, the person is still dead, and it doesn't help that person, but there was no intent at all there.But if you kill someone because you don't like them, or if you kill someone because you "wanted to rob him to feed your children", either way you killed a person, and the person is dead. |

But the vast majority are, and my post was not a "look at all the derelict Mexicans" there, it was instead one of astonishment at the shear number of them, and a wonder how the 7-11 would allow that, as there's another 7-11 right down the street, a mile a way that doesn't have this problem. If in a car, why would you stop at that 7-11? And it wasn't just the 711, they were EVERYWHERE. A severe problem, and a problem in that community noted extensively over the last years. To make this a racial thing is absurd. It has nothing to do with race. If they were "white" day laborers (which they were not), the post would have had the same tone. |

Even after that was explained to him, he still in his head, in a self-rigeous rage, continued to accuse me of something that he insisted I did, when I have not.The people were Mexican day laborers at that Farmingville 7-11, a problem that has been noted in Farmingville at length. Sure there may have been a few that were not, but the vast majority were, and are. You can take a photo of a whole group of Asian people with a few blacks and white people mixed in, and say, "Wow, look at all the Asian people there", and that wouldn't be an offensive thing to say either, even though it's quite obvious there are a couple black people or white people in the group. |

Criminal statutes are awash with aggravating or mitigating cirumstances that lead to additional or less penalties. Those circumstances are often "the WHY he did it?" This is nothing new. |

You keep concentrating on murders which is ironically the type of crime where a "hate crime" aggravator makes the least difference because:1. Murder is usually punished to the fullest extent of the law up to and including a death sentence. 2. It's the least common of violent crimes. Hate crimes are needed for lesser crimes like assault and vandalism which don't otherwise result in sentences of any particular deterrence. |
