$10.10 to flip burgers that is nuts.

So flip your own burgers then.

Why should we all pay more and we will because you cant get a skilled job.

Actually, there's enough competition in the fast food business to keep prices low, so they can't pass on the labour costs to their customers; they'll have to eat them. And they can't get skilled jobs because the economy was wrecked by the same people who oppose the minimum wage increase.

I don't owe you a living.

They don't work for you.

Their employers do owe them a living wage.

If you don't think your paid enough go get another job...

Which doesn't exist due to the aforementioned wrecked economy.

...or stay on the unlimited unemployment OBUMA keeps extending.

Wait, so you want people who are willing and able to work for a living to go jobless and collect unemployment rather than earn a living wage?

Not really, unless you were being evasive with your own reply. The both of us do not believe in rounding anybody up over their political beliefs - we do wish folks would really examine what they're being told because the right is being spoonfed some serious bullshit that even a small amount of thought would reveal that what they stand for is absolutely not in their own best interests.

But you did suggest that we need "fewer liberals" ... so what does that mean? Should those of us who are not far right start packing our stuff and get ready for a train ride or such? That IS what that implies. And when it was challenged, you came back expecting that righties should be packing instead. That ain't how "loyal opposition" works.

But where we're coming from is that all this divisive nonsense lets the real crooks get away with it while we're fighting each other instead.

Depends on what "dissenting" IS.

If it's the typical horseshit we hear out of today's RW, like just cut taxes, subsidize the wealthy, take away rights, nose in on every conflict around the globe then no.

If it's a positive contribution then let's hear it. But that by no means guarantees it should or will be incorporated into law. The clock isn't toing back, and rights sould be enhnced, not taken away.

We need both sides of thought, because no thought is always correct. What's missing lately though is any attempt to find a middle ground. As I see it, the RWers are offering nothing to "compromise" with.

They got a stimulus package where 50% was tax cuts. We could have done better with more jobs programs.

Cutting programs like SNAP that feeds kids is just evil. It's not at all constructive. Same goes for attempting to eliminate basic citizens' rights. Things like these should never be open to compromise.

I don't see any compromise out of the right either. If the democrats didn't compromise though, we'd have a higher minimum wage, continued extended unemployment coverage, SNAP reinstated, all veterans taken care of at the VA hospitals, and a long list of other "leftist" items.

If your side compromised at ALL, then we'd be somewhere halfway to a solution at least. :)

What planet are you living on?

The Democrats were given complete control of government in 2008 with a mandate to pass single payer health care, and even though the Republicans were an irrelevant and completely powerless minority, they "compromised" down to insurance reform with a public option, and then they "compromised" the public option away, and then they "compromised" down to a few half-assed regulations. Meanwhile, the Republicans agreed to nothing, offered nothing, and refused to budge an inch— the only reason we even got the ACA is because they had no power and were forced to accept whatever the Democrats decided on once they were done "compromising." Witness their 40-odd votes to repeal the ACA now that they took over the House.

The ACA is one big compromise between the single-payer system the people wanted and the "don't get sick" system the Republicans wanted, that the Democrats agreed to even though the Republicans had absolutely no leverage.
