Plus, black people have had generations to "adjust" to European-style civilization, if your post is true then why are their genes slow to "adapt"?

Revisiting this question, you're right, 400 years is enough time for evolution to leave a visible impact on a population, especially with such a drastic environmental change (look at Ashkenazi Jews, who evolved a great increase in intelligence in under two millennia). However the problem for blacks in the New World was the slave trade itself. The practices of slavery did not select for intelligence, if anything perhaps the opposite:



As well, the slave trade was ongoing; fresh slaves from Africa were constantly being brought in. This provided a fresh influx of genes that would have diluted any changes, say for intelligence or even docility among historical slaves here.
