As 5301 Fishbowl said, which supports what I said totally, he should have said something to the tune of "Hi!! Is there a problem sir??", and come out the better person in this. Being on the level of the employee is just fuel to igniting a major problem.Exactly. Paul, since we deal with thousands of people a year face to face (and not in a closed cab), we know that there are different personalities and they have to be dealt with in different ways to keep the peace. Not to mention the scores of bosses we have to deal with on the job (trainmasters, road foremen, assistant superintendants, dispatchers, platform supervisors, train directors, yardmasters, the list goes on...). :-) |

No, it remains to be determined whether the Transit Agency told him to say what he said (that your photography is restricted) or if he just said it on his own. I imagine it's the latter. |

On a practical level, what is really so silly about all this is that anyone who wants to -- railfan, terrorist, whatever -- can now take pictures surreptitiously with fairly high quality cameras now routinely in cellphones, BBerrys, iPhones, etc.All legal and constitutional issues aside, from a security perspective it is just utterly pointless and a waste of resources. |

The real villans are the two faced double talking trasit agencies who have no respect for the constitution. You have no constitutional right to photograph trains. What you have is a right to do something that's not expressely illegal. Metrorail could always begin the process to make photography illegal, and the "constitution" would not bar them. Since they have not, you are correct to file a complaint. |

So if a passenger asks me for assistance, and I say something like "What do you want?", that won't be looked at as rude or hostile, or if my wife asks me "Sweetie, what are you doing??" and I say "What business is it of yours??", it won't be looked at as negative.....wow!! :-p |

The idea is to keep a confrontation from escalating beyond what it is, and now I can see why you get in trouble both on this message board, other message boards, and while out railfanning. You let your idiotic emotions ruin your good judgement, if you even are capable of having such. Not totally different, same type of situations totally, where someone asks you something, and you make a response that is just rife with hostility and bound to turn something innocent into something out of control. So lemme ask you this....if you are an employee doing your job, and IF there is a photo policy on MDT, and you see someone doing something they shouldn't be doing, like taking photographs (so I make it clear for a simpleton like you again, IF there was an in-effect photo policy of no photographs), and you were the Director of Security for MDT, and in doing your job, you ask a person, let's say in a pleasant manner (probably impossible for you!!), "Good day, sir. What are you doing sir??" (and to make another thing clear to you, THIS IS IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM SAYING THE EMPLOYEE WAS RIGHT AND HARRY WAS WRONG!! IT WAS ESTABLISHED THE EMPLOYEE FOR APPROACHING HARRY THE WAY HE DID WAS OUT OF LINE!!), and he turns around to you and says "What business is it of yours??", you wouldn't think that the response was hostile?? If not, you are living in a dream world!! (Real sad having to talk to a grown man in a manner I have to talk to my 5 year old daughter, and to be honest I can talk clearly to her and she understands totally!! Real sad, Whineyberg!!) |

Not totally different, same type of situations totally, where someone asks you something, and you make a response that is just rife with hostility and bound to turn something innocent into something out of control. No, as I told you, totally different situations. And as I told you, REREAD the OP. If you can't understand that, then there's no hope. if you are an employee doing your job, and IF there is a photo policy on MDT, and you see someone doing something they shouldn't be doing, like taking photographs (so I make it clear for a simpleton like you again, IF there was an in-effect photo policy of no photographs), and you were the Director of Security for MDT, and in doing your job, you ask a person, let's say in a pleasant manner (probably impossible for you!!), "Good day, sir. What are you doing sir??" Wow. You really can't read. And you're dumb as f*ck. I gave you a simple hint, to reread the OP. Either you didn't listen, or you read it but you don't understand what he wrote quite simply. |

Neither have I, and I have taken photos RIGHT IN FRONT OF POLICE!! My Oak Point posts, the Morris Park (LIRR) shots, my videos I put up here on YouTube at Jersey Avenue and at Bound Brook. Indeed, as d-mind says....what IS your point?? Easy....you don;t have one, just another Whineyberg Twilight Zone delusion!! |
