You could do that even with a small stretch of single track involved. The idea would be that trips like a subway-bus trip to Jacob Ris Park would be possible. |

You've already got the Q22 bus fulfilling that role, and I don't think that the Q22 has enough ridership to warrant its replacement by a subway shuttle.A subway-bus trip to Jacob Riis Park is already possible. One could take the 2/5 to Flatbush Avenue/Brooklyn College and get on the Q35, or the shuttle to Rockaway Park/Beach 116th Street and then the Q35 to the park. |

The closest subway station to Arverne by the Sea is Beach 67 St. We'll see what MTA does there. Beach 67th St is the first stop on the beach after the Wye, to the east.I assume the Arvberne by the Sea's transit plaza (touted in its advertisements) means a driveway of some sort that the bus pulls up at or where a shuttle van run by the development takes you to the subway. Some of the townhiomes will be several blocks from a station. The sales office to the Arverne by the Sea development is on Beach 73rd St. |

A shuttle like that is needed during school days since theres alot of schools out here. I take the train over the Q22 to my school in Rock Park. The Q22 gets crowded quick and if you live on stops further away from Mott then you're in trouble because the bus will probably skip you.In the AM rush 2 trains every hour can run from Far Rock to Rock Park. In the PM rush 2 trains every hour can run from Rock Park to Far Rock. Believe it or not, there's alot of people who take the train to get from one side of the Rock to another. The shuttle gets the most ridership during the school year, almost as much during the summer. The only thing is you have to leave the penisula and wait on an island just to get to the other side and that's inconvenient. |

In the plans since the 2003-2008 Captial Plan was adopted, and. . . 2. The successful prior grouping of other outdoor station renovations, such as the Woodlawn, Whie Plains Road and Broadway/BMT line stations led MTA/NYCT to realize that the Rockaway stations can all be done simultaneously while the funds were being allocated for this work. |

Adding trains during peak hours can be tough. First, you need the cars to spare, and also, the terminal capacity. The timetables would also have to be revised, since one doesn't want to create congestion via this additional service pattern. Arguably, the fiscal argument is bolstered for this change in service if some Q22 buses are truncated such that they don't run east of Rockaway Pk.(I imagine that population density, even assuming a willing population, wouldn't support an extension of the Rockaway Pk branch to Neponsit, unless someday something like an extension of the Flatbush Av line to Neponsit ever happens, and even such extension happened, it likely wouldn't be brought over the water to the Rockaway Peninsula, I guess. |

Rockaway service is half of the A service, the other half serving the three stations of the Liberty Av-Lefferts branch. So running a Rockaways train service would not be a big deal, even at rush hour. There is still plenty of track capacity; the only complication is scheduling trains through the single-track connection (trainss have to take turns using it). But PATH does that successfully at a much tighter schedule with its Hudson tubes. However, your point about rolling stock is valid. You'd need to have extra trainsets assigned to the Rockaways service. |

Sorry, David, but you're wrong.Arverne by the Sea has been in the works for quite a while. You don't put a development like that up overnight. The City council has been trying to lure developers to the Rockaways for decades and now they are succeeding. The 2003 Capital Plan was put together knowing that these developments were coming, but the trigger was not pulled on the construction until after the development began construction. The Capital Plan reflects projects the MTA Board has approved for its funding priorities, but that does not mean they all get done, or all get done on the intended schedule. Wiuthout arverne by the Sea, the Rockaways project woiuld probably have been deferred another few years. "White Plains Road and Broadway/BMT line stations led MTA/NYCT to realize that the Rockaway stations can all be done simultaneously while the funds were being allocated for this work." MTA has "realized" that since the 1960s. They just didn't have the money to do it. |

All disused stairways (no longer used and in some cases they are half gone already) will be removed.I heard that They will also rehab the viaduct steel and deck (roadbed). They will also address the line from Broad Channel.(I do not know if they will fix Broad Channel or just the right of way.) Work will start in June, 2008 on thew rock Park side first since those stations are in need of greater attention |

Well I know about that and the fact "they may as well since the other stations are getting rehabbed now" point. but still it is the lowest used station that is opened at least everyday. Resources to fix up that station would've been better used for a line that at least gets double the ridership.Otherwise they can fix up the immediate portion served by the 4-car shuttle. |
