Adding trains during peak hours can be tough. First, you need the cars to spare, and also, the terminal capacity. The timetables would also have to be revised, since one doesn't want to create congestion via this additional service pattern. Arguably, the fiscal argument is bolstered for this change in service if some Q22 buses are truncated such that they don't run east of Rockaway Pk.(I imagine that population density, even assuming a willing population, wouldn't support an extension of the Rockaway Pk branch to Neponsit, unless someday something like an extension of the Flatbush Av line to Neponsit ever happens, and even such extension happened, it likely wouldn't be brought over the water to the Rockaway Peninsula, I guess. |
