Whitehall is the last place you would want to fumigate any S/B trains since that is one of the heaviest load points on the BMT Southern Division and again that would only exacerbate the situation for Bay Ridge passengers. Full service to 95 St is a non negotiable MUST!!!!! |

I'd just take the 4/5/6, especially from 86th St. That's the problem. My guess is the service will be more frequent than the Q is now, just to get people to use it. |

That is a year a way. Even if they tell you anything today they will surely change it before the line opens. And then, once it does open, they will make more changes because the people who run and plan the MTA are not as far sighted as your LION.!As usual, you were incorrect. They apparently announced only two months after you made your ignorant post. |

Guessing they have the rolling stock!I think they should look into a way for the W to more effectively help the R with servicing Bay Ridge. I imagine the special Ws to Sea Beach will be back for the sake of yard access. I wonder if they can send some Ws in lieu of some Rs past Whitehall to Bay Ridge, though only if there's a way to do that while maintaining or increasing reliability. On paper the W should be more dependable than the R, so any Ws that come to Brooklyn should help, even if it is at the cost of some Rs. JAM would have to send some cars to CI. But at least we have a direction for our rumors / ideas to go in now, so long as this report is accurate. |

OK, Subchat, so what about all the claims that there aren't any cars available to do this? They've just promised an estimated extra 6 tph between Whitehall and 57th. That requires 50 cars that aren't supposed to exist. And then when the SAS opens they need even more cars that don't exist to extend the Q to 96th. |

It should take 10 minutes less time to go from 57th to 96th/2nd than from 57th to Astoria.Current travel time from 57th to Astoria on the Q is 20 minutes. But I only estimated the extra train sets needed to go from Whitehall to 57th, not Whitehall to Astoria. The former is about a 50 minute round trip, so 6 tph will require 5 train sets. |

But even if the q doesn't go to astoria anymore, the w will, so you are still adding the length of a route from Whitehall to 57th, as you still will need the q running the length from lower Manhattan to 57th also. So even if the q will need less trains from 96th to 57th than it needed from Astoria to 56th, that train or two will cover Astoria to Whitehall? |
