No, not necessarily.

if there is something nice underneath why are you so against it?

Because I'm tired of every single station looking alike.

thats like if someone put some ugly stickers on a rolls royce, why would it be a big deal to take them off and let the real deal show?

Actually, it's not like that. The tile job underneath what's presently there looks just like the rest of the stations with Similar tile mosaics. I'm all for rennovating, and even removing the existing walls. But if this will result in stations that will essentially be replicas of each other (just with different words in the middle of those mosaics), then what's the point.

My point: The Chrysler building looks great. It would loose significance if there were multiple replicas, peppered throughout the city.
