BTW, if you're in the head car of a Flatbush-Jamaica bound LIRR train w/o a transverse cab, you might be able to see a partiall turn-out (tunnel bell-mouth) about l,000 feet before the train comes out onto the elevated structure on Atlantic Avenue. The partiall turn-out was a planned connection to the original Brighton Beach line (currently, the Franklin Avenue Shuttle), during the early stages of the Atlantic Avenue Improvement (aka Brooklyn Grade-Crossing Elimination Project). There is a notation about it on the hand-drawn maps of noted LIRR historian, Robert Emery.
