Yeah, it doesn't make sense.Most Argentinians are of direct Italian or Spanish descent (without the local mixing with Natives as in Mexico, etc) with a smattering of Germans too. It's a whiter country than the US or France and Britain. If a typical Italian or German-descended Argentinian (like a Javier Zanetti or Esteban Cambiasso or former President Nestor Kirchner) were to come to the US, he/she should be considered Non-Hispanic White by race and Argentinian-American by national origin. Somebody like Diego Maradona can be considered Hispanic because his ancestors obviously mixed with the aborigenal population. |
