Dooley is German-American, Regis is French-American, etc.Correct. By national rather than continental origin, Charlize would be a South African-American. Most American blacks can't pinpoint their country of origin, so they use the entire continent instead. OTOH, more recent descendants (like Obama) or transplants like Hakeem Olajuwan can clearly say Kenyan-American or Nigerian-American. |
