They are African-Americans.They are from Africa and become Americans. Just like somebody from Asia becomes and Asian-American. Race immaterial. Former black US soccer player David Regis is a European-American just like Thomas Dooley and Jermaine Jones are. So would Thierry Henry, Ashley Cole or Mario Balotelli if they ever became Americans. Charlize Theron is an African-American by national/continental origin and an Afrikaaner-American by ethnicity. |
