As much as I romanticize and fantasize about wanting to be Jewish, I'm a Christian at heart with political leanings all over the board (mostly socially liberal, fiscally conservative, and Stalinist to murderers and thieves).I have relatives outside of Dallas (transplants from dead center Long Island, around the Mastics), all of which ex-Catholic Italians became born agains. I was last there during the run up to the 2004 elections and got questioned by them, including a then-10 year old cousin, about "why I, as a Christian, would not want to vote for Bush" when I dared say that I was going to vote Libertarian. Is that really right that one's faith ties them to a candidate? Never mind that if this comes into play that the key cities proper of Texas are going to be pissed big time. |

That's part of the fear people in that rundown section of Howard Beach have. They have no right to look down on anyone after seeing how a lot of people there live. They feel they have carved out a quiet little neighborhood where you don't have people blasting Wisin and Yandel at night, walking around with doo-rags and pitbulls, and all that in your face hip-hop culture stuff. What in the world are you talking about? Once again you racially stereotypes a culture you obviously know nothing about. Once again you racially stereotypes a culture you obviously know nothing about. At least I made my opinions of Howard Beach and its residents after visiting the neighborhood. He's describing the stereotypes that those people no doubt have. In any case, it's somewhat valid. Not that all "minorities" are like that, but enough of them are like that and you know full well that well to do "minorities" will not be the ones moving there, they can afford better. Some people prefer to live in a neighborhood with muddy, dusty streets and no sewers so long as it's quiet. Different people have different priorities. |

Um no, it doesn't work that way. There is a giant, enclosed tank buried in the yard. All of the plumbing in the house works the same way as it does in a house with a sewer. From time to time a truck comes by to empty it out. It empties it out through something like a manhole, and the shit doesn't go back through the house. Obviously it's not the kind of thing a person cleans themselves, and is no more disgusting than having your neighbors' shit flowing past your house in the sewer main under the street in front of you because it's all underground. |

He's describing the stereotypes that those people no doubt have. In any case, it's somewhat valid. No they don't if everyone who listened to Hip hop is as LuchAAA described than even Howard Beach would not be the "quiet", "peaceful" place it is. Not that all "minorities" are like that, but enough of them are like that and you know full well that well to do "minorities" will not be the ones moving there, they can afford better. There are also enough lower-class minorities who aren't what LuchAAA stereotypes them to be & just want to peacefully live their lives just as much as the lower-class people of Howard Beach apparently want to. I'd also like to note that Howard Beach residents even harass black people who move in their neighborhood and don't act like you and LuchAAA stereotyped them to be so that "Hip hop culture" argument is pretty moot in this case. Some people prefer to live in a neighborhood with muddy, dusty streets and no sewers so long as it's quiet. Different people have different priorities. How do you know that no lower-class black people are capable of living a quiet life? Just like LuchAAA you don't seem like you've been to enough lower-class black neighborhoods to judge the people in them. |

They may believe that one person moving in means the floodgates are open. It's a stupid idea and legitimately racist. How do you know that no lower-class black people are capable of living a quiet life? Just like LuchAAA you don't seem like you've been to enough lower-class black neighborhoods to judge the people in them. Lower-class black neighborhoods tend to be of higher density, so an astute observer (not some ignorant boor who lives in a literal swamp) wouldn't be able to draw a conclusion from what he sees there. |

Yes. It filters out. Actually the hard stuff also dissipates away as a properly functioning septic system has natural bacteria, etc that takes care of that. No one even knows it's there underground, it operates just like a sewer does as far as the house is concerned. Every 10-15 years (under normal circumstances) you may need to get it pumped out and treated |

In time they do but they're designed to accomodate a healthy amount of development before they do. I mean when they are new.your pal, Fred |

No, septic systems limit development as THEY only have a certain capacity, of which is less than sewer systems. You can't have the density of housing with septic systems that you can with a sewer system.Expanding the sewer system allows for more development. For example, in a downtown area near me, half the Main st is connected to the sewer system, and the other half is still on septic systems. The side with the sewer system is thriving, with all new restaurants, new bars, larger buildings, and so forth. The other side of Main St is almost a ghost town as most applications are turned down for restaurants, etc to move there, based on the table count and the current septic system for the property's size. They are currently expanding the sewer system to rectify this problem on Main St. |

No the wastes from the house drain to the tank and then the overflow from the tank seeps into the ground through structures that are a few feet below the ground. It's not drinkable water that's leeching into the ground but it's cleaner than piss. There's also household waste like detergents and cleaners that are part of this as well. How does water enter the house though? Through pipes from either a well or public water. That's what your asking here right? your pal, Fred |
