Right. That's part of the fear people in that rundown section of Howard Beach have. They feel they have carved out a quiet little neighborhood where you don't have people blasting Wisin and Yandel at night, walking around with doo-rags and pitbulls, and all that in your face hip-hop culture stuff.I've seen so many quiet working class areas and apartment buildings in Queens transformed into "el Barrio". When I say "working class" I mean middle to lower middle class. That's who is most vulnerable. People in Little Neck or Great River probably don't have to worry about neighbors who blast music or walk around with a pitbull to look bad ass. And I didn't even get into the impact on schools. |
