Funny thing is, someone just came out with a book called, "I-95". I didn't buy it, but the author was on the radio complaining about how boring most of the ride on 95 is. I wonder if he saw the locomotive, and put a photo in his book?Anyway, I'm at mile marker 160 in South Carolina, and have not seen it yet. I'll be looking for it today, and should update tonight if possible. |

I was just thinking that on my last drive from Florida this past winter! it's so convenient to use the mile markers as the exit. It's even used on I4 in Florida where exits are closer together. My firtst thought was that our exists are too close, but there are somem close exits elsewhere too. I4 wasn't always in that system, they even have "former exit 33" on the top of the signs, I guess for some years untill people get used to the mile marker exit numbers.It's especially convenient on I95 where you drive state to state, as you know exactly how many miles you get to the next state. It sort of breaks the ride up. |

I went onto Google maps, and they actually have a STREET VIEW of I 95 in South Carolina, but you have to have a general idea of where this has to be, or the mile marker to find it, as I am not "driving" down I95 in street view all day! I believe the exits on I-278 are already numbered that way, starting in Linden, NJ. I used to wonder why the BQE had "Exit 34" or similar numbers. Then, the powers that be put numbers on the exits on the Staten Island Expressway, and I note that Lily Pond Avenue is #15, and the first exit in Brooklyn is #17.Looks to me that the zero mark is in Linden, like I said. |

There is a ten year phase-in compliance period to allow state and local agencies to secure funding for sign replacement. |

Boring probably isn't even enough of a word for it!Luch, do you stay on I-95 through Virginia, or do you go onto I295 where it breaks off from 95? They meet again some miles later, but you cut off Richmond which seems to be a good thing, I like the bypass way instead of just going through on 95 straight through, it seems to be faster to me. |
