Calling the police on people who are doing completely lawful activities is, by definition, falsely reporting an incident. What possible legitimate reason would there be, for example, to call the police on a firefighter in full uniform, driving a marked fire engine, who is performing his job? |

Why not? If the ADA had a strong case, he should have taken Smollett to trial. When a Becky calls the police on some Black person doing nothing wrong, she injures not only the person in question, but the general public, because a car has to come off 911 to deal with it. That's essentially what Johnson is saying in the Smollett case. |

No sense of proportion here on OTChat. What Smollett did is obviously way worse than a single instance of calling the cops on someone for swimming while black, etc. But on the other hand, many celebrities (most of them white, but some black, like Cosby and R Kelly) have gotten deferential treatment from prosecutors for crimes way more serious than Smollett's, and yet the prosecutors have attracted a fraction of the outrage that Magats and Foxx have received here. The sheer number of posts here excoriating Foxx is amazing. Yeah, she did something really stupid, and probably politically influenced. Yeah, you already said so 8 times. |

You would have to ask the person who called 911 that question. And, to play Devil's Advocate, in the example you provide, how do we know who called 911? It could have been a black person, a white person, and Asian person, a Hispanic person. Based on my personal experience, black people call 911 on each other the most by far. |

In JayZero logic, not bringing the case against an individual of color means it was not a strong case, but when ADA decides not to prosecute an alleged crime involving a police officer it is the ADA sweeping it under the rug. |

When there is sharp, clear video of a cop killing a Black person, and the DA declined to prosecute (see: Garner, where even the ME ruled his death a homicide by strangulation), that's a clear example of sweeping the case under the rug.The Jussie case, OTOH, was a strong case for the grand jury, but the police disemboweled it by mishandling the evidence. A trial would have been a mess. |
