Even if he was breathing (I'm gonna watch that video again), Garner's air was clearly cut off for enough time that the effect was fatal.Manual compression of a person's airway = strangulation. Because it's an excellent example of how a prosecutor can cleverly manipulate a case to achieve a desired result. Pantaleo should have been prosecuted, because the forensic evidence supported a minimum charge of negligent homicide, and certainly aggravated assault. It was not necessary to choke Garner to death in order to gain his compliance. |

No, it's not. And it's not even a career criminal, who still deserves to live. It was a fat fuck in horrible health who resisted arrest even though he knew or should have known that he was in no condition to be taken down.It was necessary to perform a takedown maneuver on Garner as he swatted away the officer's hands when he tried to handcuff him peacefully. |

The justice system is not just the courts. Not being arrested or indicted could be seen as a failure of the justice system. For example in the south back in the day there were illegal lynchings. Would you not consider someone being known to have committed a lynching, yet never arrested or indicted to be a failure of justice? Or would you say that justice was carried out since no one was arrested? |

When someone is having his air cut off, says he can't breathe, and subsequently dies, a pattern has emerged. If I did the exact same thing to someone that the video shows Pantaleo doing to Garner, I'd be charged with: Assault Criminal obstruction of breathing Manslaughter one Six cops, one unarmed person. It wasn't necessary to kill Garner in order to arrest him. If a cop choked you, would anyone be blaming your weight for your demise? You're pretty plump yourself. |

JayZee stated that the meme wasn't equivalent because Clinton was never indicted or arrested and my point is that not being arrested is part of the justice system so the meme is a fair comparison. That's if you believe that Clinton and Jussie are both free because of a biased justice system. I don't believe that personally but I understand the content in the meme. |

OK, if you believe that Clinton is free because of a biased justice system, then everything follows. But the original supposition is ridiculous.I do agree that Smollett is free because of a justice system biased in favor of celebrities, and probably also because of political considerations in the mind of the states attorney. |
