Adding sentences for INTENT of ANY crime is long standing practice of every justice system in the world including ours.The distinction is premeditation. It's OK to make a distinction between a person who planned a murder and someone who killed in a fit of rage. It shouldn't matter WHY a person chose to kill. Somebody who steals with the intent of splurging on fancy clothes gets more time than somebody who steals to feed his child. Not officially. There is no such law on the books. |
