It's not racist to assume that the day laborers in Farmingville are Mexican. That town has a huge Mexican presence.

You're just looking to be offended.

Regardless of the amount of Mexicans in Farmingville, he still had no knowledge of whether all of the people he photographed were actually Mexican like he ignorantly asserted. Hispanic people from other countries also live in Farmingville, and they really get offended if you call them Mexicans.

Just like it's not racist to assume I'm a white American, even when I go to Mexico, or Jackson Heights. In either case, it's no big deal.

It's different when it comes to Hispanics in America. A lot of Americans like to demean them by simply referring to them as Mexicans because they're not viewed by many people as being important enough to be recognized as any more than Mexicans due to the jobs a lot of them work.
