However, if given a choice between watching the NFL, MLB, NBA, or NHL or watching soccer; I'd watch the NFL, MLB, NBA, or NHL.But the World Cup isn't simply watching soccer. I can understand liking the NFL, MLB, etc over watching the MLS or the European soccer leagues during the course of their normal yearly seasons but the WC is only every four years for a month and national honor rests on the results. English national pride was wounded on Saturday. Ours was greatly enhanced. It may sound insane and probably is, but I didn't create the world and humanity as it is. |
