Whether or not you get one in the private sector is irrelevant. When I accepted my job it came with certain benefits. One of them was a pension. If I put in 25 or more years and reached the age of 55 or more, then I would get a certain percentage of my average salary (over my best 3 years). I accepted the job with that benefit. Do you think that I should turn it down? If you think that the job is so great, apply for it. Just be willing to work all hours. Work weekends. Work holidays. Work storms when your family has not been tended to. Be unable to get vacations in the summer. If you are unhappy with the private sector. try to do my former job.
