You're beating on the First Amendment. I'm going to something deeper.But to address you directly: there is a qualitative difference between saying girls should marry at 15 and saying men should marry boys at 15. Girls marrying men or boys at 15 has been a common practice in much of the world and in the U.S. and is still possible in some states. Saying that men should marry boys is a political statement that brings up new social and political issues. But what should happen to you if you were to say that? What WOULD happen to you? Legally, nothing. You would be criticized in many quarters and asked to explain yourself. If you were running for political office, you might have destroyed yourself. Should you be denied your livelihood? If you did no more than express your opinion, even forcefully, I would say no. And you're trying to make it a contractual issue? So what you're really upholding is the Law of Contracts? Or are you simply claiming the right to demand the firing of people who offend you? |
