In fairness, I should also comment on your statement: If I, as something of a public figure these days, ever advocated that men should marry 15 year old boys, I'd fully expect to lose more than, say, my position as a radio commentatorIf Duck Dynasty Dude was, say, a CNN commentator, it is a lot different than if he is a semi-entertaining (he's not my cup of tea) duck call maker. If such a commentator on a "mainstream" news network were to advocate pedophilia, say, or tell blacks that second-class citizenship was good for them, or say that men should be able to marry 15-year-old boys, there'd be hell to pay. We have a real problem in this society with evaluating the role of people who access to a microphone. |
