What is the "qualitative difference" between men marrying 15 year old girls, and men marrying 15 year old boys? Please do elaborate. Gay marriage is legal in 18 states now. I'm not advocating that men should marry boys or girls, merely pointing out that you are using a double standard.If I, as something of a public figure these days, ever advocated that men should marry 15 year old boys, I'd fully expect to lose more than, say, my position as a radio commentator--I'd expect to be prosecuted for promoting pedophilia. By your standards, though, encouraging marriage between grown men and 15 year old girls is OK, by comparison. The First Amendment, by the way, prohibits the GOVERNMENT from unlawfully restricting your speech. What you agree to on your own, in a contract, is another thing entirely. But even with that, again, freedom of speech doesn't mean others aren't equally free to respond to your words. |
