IMHO it's hilarious the religious wrong have decided to make a big deal out of his case. It's more a case about the need for the most marginal members of society to have unfettered access to the same medical care afforded those with health insurance and thus a powerful argument for socialized medicine than anything else. There are any number of other doctors in North Philly, and in low income neighborhoods around the country who charge virtually nothing, scam Medicare for whatever they can get, and perform procedures that are either unnecessary, dangerous, or some combination of the two.

But hey, if the right wants to make the case for single payer healthcare to replace the DoleCare package we enacted in Obama's first term, that's just fine.
