There are a few errors in that article too many to mention here, however the most glaring one I found was mentioning a passenger entraining at Northern Blvd going west and the next stations being 65 St and 74/Roosevelt. 65 and Roosevelt are EAST of Northern Blvd, not west and his descriptions of the colors of the express stations’ relative the the preceding local stations is also off.

Not so hidden. But as for express stations having darker color bands than local ones, the only example I can think of is W. 4th St. vs. 14th and 23rd Streets on Sixth Ave. Otherwise, the colors at express stations are the same as at the local stations that follow, such as 59th St.-Columbus Circle and the local stations from 72nd to 116th Streets.

It implies the IRT numbered its lines from the start, which is not true.

Another glaring error is the mention of the IRT numbering its routes from the very beginning. The IRT NEVER used route numbers until the R-12s were designed and someone at the B of T decided that since the car design called for a route descriptor box like the R-1s through 10s, the D types and the Multis the IRT routes should also be numbered even though they duplicated the BMT’s numbers. Why the designers didn’t design a simple destination sign centered like the IRT’s W/F cars and omit the number, I don’t know. I looks like the BMT even opted to do away with its numbers since the Bluebirds din’t use them.

What was also not mentioned was that the exp stations were supposed to more or less follow the colors of the spectrum although a few were often missing from the sequence. I guess the B of T was obsessed with the color green since the cars and station entrance signs were green and the tile colors were supposed to radiate from W 4 St which was also green. It also should be noted that the colors of the local stations were the same as the next express station from the outer boroughs. Thus the colors matched the next southbound exp stop going to W 4 St from uptown Manhattan the Bronx and Queens but the next northbound exp stop coming from Brooklyn. It seems that after WWII the city wasn’t so circumspect about keeping the color system intact since had it been followed, Grant Av should have been the same color as Euclid instead of the 2 tone green it is.

There are a few examples in Queens of local stations having lighter colors than the previous express stations, but it's not consistent. Dark purple Queens Plaza is followed by dark purple 36 St, Steinway St, and 46 St, and then lavender (light purple) Northern Blvd and 65 St. Dark blue Roosevelt Av is followed by medium blue Elmhurst Av and Grand Av, and then light blue Woodhaven Blvd, 63 Dr, and 67 Av. Dark yellow Union Tpke is followed by dark yellow Van Wyck Blvd and then light yellow Sutphin Blvd.

On the G line, Court Sq, 21 St, Greenpoint Av, and Nassau Av are dark green, then Metropolitan Av and Broadway are a different green, then from Flushing Av to Fulton St they have still a different green.
