Another glaring error is the mention of the IRT numbering its routes from the very beginning. The IRT NEVER used route numbers until the R-12s were designed and someone at the B of T decided that since the car design called for a route descriptor box like the R-1s through 10s, the D types and the Multis the IRT routes should also be numbered even though they duplicated the BMT’s numbers. Why the designers didn’t design a simple destination sign centered like the IRT’s W/F cars and omit the number, I don’t know. I looks like the BMT even opted to do away with its numbers since the Bluebirds din’t use them. |
