There is NO POPULAR vote in this country.

There is NO NATIONAL ELECTION in this country.

All elections are LOCAL. You are voting to determine if YOUR STATE will vote for Hillary or for the Donald. The STATES vote for the president, you do not do so, at least not directly.

Remember we are a REPUBLIC not a Democracy. The mob (thank God) does not get to rule.

Were it a purrfect situation all decisions would be made by the assembly of states as represented in the Senate and in the House of Representatives.

And it used to be that Senators were appointed by the governors rather than elected.

YOU might wish that we were a true democracy (I am glad we are not--I do not like mob rule), but it would take a Constitutional Convention to change this, and that WILL NOT turn out to your liking or mine.

You are correct. And yet many of your conservative comrades here keep saying that the polls incorrectly predicted that Clinton would win the election. What they actually predicted is that the sum of all Clinton's votes would exceed the sum of all Trump's votes.

You are making too much of the path of the tunnel. That is not what is driving up costs. Penn Station South will also be costly, but the trajectory of the new tunnels is actually better suited for them.

Who does a tariff tax anyway? A tariff on Chinese steel will be paid by the buyers in the USA, not the producers in China. Add the Tariff, double it, and Chinese steel will still be cheaper than US steel.

We have used up most of our steel ore, but beyond that, steel production is modernized, and automated, even if we were to build or rather re-build a steel industry here there will be almost no workers in the mills. A few master's prepared engineers running the thing from a computer room.

This is nothing new. I remember back in the 1960s seeing adverts in the subways... "What will you do when this circuit lears your job?" Well, Hello! That is where we are. there will be fewer and fewer good paying blue collar jobs in this country.

Somewhat O/T:
Jobs are not totally gone with steel mill automation.

You still need highly reliable people to keep the automated mill running, and you need many people deeply familiar with whatever industrial process is at hand to automate it in the first place, then go back and troubleshoot/adjust/optimize the automation later. Many things don't get automated because a human can be better and cheaper than a robot, the robot's development, process changes, and possible dependence on an outside automation vendor who actually DGAF about your business.

Steelmaking is an awesome process, in the original sense of that word. Talk about a dangerous job.
