Who does a tariff tax anyway? A tariff on Chinese steel will be paid by the buyers in the USA, not the producers in China. Add the Tariff, double it, and Chinese steel will still be cheaper than US steel.We have used up most of our steel ore, but beyond that, steel production is modernized, and automated, even if we were to build or rather re-build a steel industry here there will be almost no workers in the mills. A few master's prepared engineers running the thing from a computer room. This is nothing new. I remember back in the 1960s seeing adverts in the subways... "What will you do when this circuit lears your job?" Well, Hello! That is where we are. there will be fewer and fewer good paying blue collar jobs in this country. You want work... Look toward the Service Sector. ROAR |
