Sunny Summer Sunday specials did come from the South over the Manny B since that was the only way they could turn back to get to Franklin via the Sea Beach. Also as I have mentioned many times in many threads. until the through routing of the Jamaica and Brighton lines (QJ) in 1967 ALL trains which passed through Brooklyn enroute Manhattan were NORTHBOUND regardless of their point of origin. Thus trains arriving at Chambers St From Jamaica or Metropolitan were arriving from the SOUTH. The track numbering bears this out since on the BMT/IND even numbered tracks are northbound and odd numbered tracks are southbound. Since there is no longer any through routing of service between the Southern and Eastern divisions of the bMT and the M going towards Ctl is properly NORTHBOUND, there is no reason other than the lack of intelligence on the part of NYCT upper management why J trains should not revert to the pre Chrystie terminology of being northbound to Broad St and southbound to Jamaica. |
