It's good to remind people of the BMT "north" and "south" usage. The most interesting was on Nassau Street, with morning rush hour northbound Jamaica expresses, Brighton and Fourth Avenue Specials going to Broad Street and southbound Culver expresses on the same track. Evening rush was interesting also, with southbound Brighton Specials moving toward the Tunnel and southbound Fourth Avenue Specials on the opposite track, going to the Bridge. Is there a picture anywhere of the track directory board at old Stillwell Avenue? I remember as a kid looking at the sign, which had "Sea Beach Express to Chambers Street Track A" and over the words "to Chambers street" was a hinged cover sign that was raised or lowered by a cord so people would know whether the Frnklin-Nassau was running. I think at times Franklin-Nassau service just used tracks C and D (changed to Tracks 3 and 4 after the Culver became a lettered route). Brighton locals were moved from tracks E and F (now 5 and 6) to the Franklin tracks. The change from track letters to numbers was another of those preferences for the IND over the BMT in TA thinking, inherited from the Board of Transportation and anti-BMT mayors.
